Susan: I have been heavy most of my life. I constantly dieted, but nothing worked. I would lose some weight, but eventually the hunger and food cravings would take over and the weight would come back on. I yo-yo dieted my weight up to 380 pounds. When I turned 40 years old, I knew I may not reach my next birthday. I stumbled onto a low carb support group and began my Atkins journey. I realized quickly that this was different. The hunger and cravings were disappearing and I was losing weight. I have been following a low carb lifestyle for over 6 years and truly believe it has saved my life. I finally feel that I have control over food rather that it controlling me. My life today is so much different than it was. I am healthy and I have lots of energy. I exercise regularly and food is no longer the priority in my life. Do I still enjoy food, of course, I just have different favorites. As I approach the maintenance phase, I am ready to see what the next chapter of my life will bring. I know I will succeed and hope to inspire others to lose weight and regain their health through a healthy low carb lifestyle.
